Transfer from Los Mochis Airport to El Fuerte
Secret information: upon booking this itinerary the Travel Designer reveals additional information with tips.

Upon your arrival at Los Mochis International Airport, one of our representatives will be waiting for you with a personalized sign bearing your name, ensuring a smooth, comfortable, and hassle-free welcome.

From the very beginning of your Chepe tour, you'll be in good hands. After your reception, we will safely and directly transfer you to the charming Pueblo Mágico of El Fuerte.

This beautiful colonial town, founded in 1564 by Spanish explorer Francisco de Ibarra, holds not only centuries of history but also a unique charm that captivates every visitor. Its name comes from the fort built by the conquistadors on the highest part of the town to defend against indigenous attacks. Today, that historic stronghold stands right in front of the iconic Posada del Hidalgo hotel, where tradition, hospitality, and culture come together to offer you an unforgettable experience.

Free Day at El Fuerte
Secret information: upon booking this itinerary the Travel Designer reveals additional information with tips.

El Fuerte was designated a Pueblo Mágico of Mexico in 2009, and it's easy to see why. This charming destination blends the richness of its colonial past with the vibrant indigenous traditions of the Yoremes or Mayos, creating a unique cultural experience that attracts travelers from around the world.

Founded in 1563 by Spanish conquistadors, El Fuerte owes its name to the fortress built in response to ongoing conflicts with the native peoples of the region. That same fortress also gave its name to the river that flows nearby: the Río Fuerte. Today, this history can be felt throughout the town, offering visitors a journey back in time.

Among its main tourist attractions are the Municipal Palace, the Plaza de Armas, and the El Fuerte Museum, where you can learn more about the town's history, legends, and iconic figures. Its well-preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and warm hospitality invite you to explore at your own pace.

El Fuerte is also renowned for the rock art found in the Río Fuerte basin. These ancient expressions, created by the Nahoa indigenous groups, are a testament to the region’s deep-rooted history and attract historians, researchers, and curious travelers with their symbolic and artistic richness.

As the day comes to an end, we recommend finding a high vantage point—like the terrace at Hotel Posada del Hidalgo or the El Fuerte Museum—to watch the sunset. The sky transforms into a canvas of warm colors, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Summary

The Copper Canyon is a series of canyons located between the states of Sinaloa and Chihuahua in Mexico. They are traversed by the route of the famous Chepe train, Mexico's only passenger train. For 6 days, you can enjoy a unique journey through the Sierra Tarahumara, visiting the most important points from Los Mochis to Chihuahua. And the best part is that the Chepe Express train will be in first class with all the comforts that implies!

This is one of the most beautiful trips in Mexico for several reasons: the route offers breathtaking views of the canyons as it passes over bridges, rivers, and tunnels; the hotels along the route are charming, for example, the Hotel Mirador has been awarded for having one of the most beautiful terrace views in the world; the Adventure Park boasts the third longest cable car in the world and the longest zip line in the world at 2.5 kilometers long; finally, the Copper Canyon is home to the Tarahumara culture, which is one of the most fascinating on the planet.

Your accommodation will be in the best hotels at each station, the most renowned and emblematic nationally in the Copper Canyon. The rooms have two double beds and do not offer additional bedding services. It is important not to forget to bring your printed train tickets, which will be sent to you via email after payment is made.
